A Kenyan living in Belgium has been arrested for allegedly killing his former girlfriend.

Belgian newspaper HLN reported that James Ololo, 55, drove to Elizabeth Wafula’s house against a court order to immediately leave the premises.

A tussle then ensued and Mr Ololo grabbed a knife and stabbed the 53-year-old woman multiple times. The woman succumbed to her injuries.

Ms Wafula's family and neighbours are convinced it was the court’s decision that led to the disagreement that cost her her life.

Ololo asked neighbours to call the police before he was arrested.

His business partner expressed disbelief at the incident.

"I never expected this," said Simeon Situma to the newspaper.

The two founded a company together - Kenya Experts Community - a few years ago to support Kenyans who want to establish businesses in Belgium.

Mr Situma said Ololo also had political ambitions and that his online posts showed he was a staunch supporter of Opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Wafula was a member of the Association of Kenyan Diaspora in Belgium and Luxembourg and embraced charitable causes such as the Children's Perfect Hope Foundation.
