It was necessary for the Supreme Court
judges to provide their full ruling detailing why they annulled President Uhuru
Kenyatta’s victory. However, it was not a good picture that two of the judges
were not available when such an important decision was being made. We can
understand the case of Justice Mohamed Ibrahim, who was in hospital days to the
determination. However, it was wrong for Justice Smokin Wanjala to miss the
judgement, having been part of the process. Chief Justice David Maraga said he
signed the ruling before he flew out but I think he needed to delay his trip
for this very important matter unless it was an emergency. Kenyans would have
wished Justice Wanjala to read his judgement, just like his colleagues. Onyango

A statement by CJ David Maraga when he
warned that the Judiciary will not allow anyone to tell it how to do its job
was full of anger. He even went ahead to dare those dissatisfied with the
Judiciary to call a referendum to scrap it. That was unnecessary. All he needed
to do was to make his statement. I believe he was biased in his judgement. Many
Kenyans expect him to be a uniting factor based on the importance of the office
he holds. While it was wrong for President Kenyatta and a section of Jubilee
leaders to attack the Supreme Court the way they did, the CJ should understand
that his statements can make or unmake the country. And this also goes to all
political leaders. Joel Onyango.
I have read the entire ruling. The Supreme
Court judges are being diplomatic in their language but it is just a gentle way
of saying that Uhuru Kenyatta and his Jubilee team messed up during the last
elections. He should be banned from taking part any other elections in this country.
