In a new twist, NASA flag bearer Raila Odinga on Tuesday July 18, said President Uhuru Kenyatta is holding undisclosed meetings with IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati and Fred Matiang’i at his office so as to convince them help rig elections.

The remarks by Mr Odinga have not gone so well with DP William Ruto who has dismissed the claims defending the acting interior security CS Fred Matiang’i.

Ruto brushed off the Raila remarks saying the CS has every right to hold meetings with the commission’s officials including the chairman Mr Wafula Chebukati over the action plan for Kenyans’ security during the electioneering period.

“Matiang’i is not participating in politics. We have enough politicians to do that,” said DP Ruto.

Mr Odinga made the claims when he campaigned in Kibra Constituency. He termed the slum upgrading project in the area as his idea accusing the ruling regime of letting it collapse.

"I am the one who initiated the slum upgrading project but it has stalled under the Jubilee administration. When we take over power, we will continue constructing more low-cost houses," said Mr Odinga.

He promised to revamp the program through construction of low-cost housing in the event he is elected as president.
