Just days after the ODM Busia primaries’ results had been nullified due to reasons of massive irregularities; Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has claimed that he has several ways of winning elections in the County, of which he only applied one during the ODM primaries.

The process which was marked by chaos and delay in announcing results saw Ojaamong announced as the winner, before Funyula MP Paul Otuoma disputed the results, claiming that the Governor’s victory was not arrived at through a free and fair process.

In an interview with a local station last night, Ojaamong warned his opponent Paul Otuoma to expect a real battle, saying that what happened in Busia previously was merely skirmishes.

When asked what he would do if he lost the re-scheduled ODM Busia primaries, Governor Ojaamong confidently stated, “I’ve always told my supporters that I have seven ways of winning an election in Busia County, this one I only applied one...”

This statement raises questions in Kenyans' minds about what lengths politicians are willing to go to clinch elective posts in this year’s election.

The Busia ODM primaries are set to be repeated on the 25th of April after the ODM National Elections Board spotted irregularities in the whole process, heavily scrutinising the delay in announcing results, which might be the reason why supporters from both sides got rowdy.

As a Kenyan, I start to wonder how many times the ODM Busia Primaries will be repeated because if all of Governor Ojaamong’s techniques have the same results (nullification), then we might be in for a very long party nomination period. Maybe 7!
