Fifty-one cases of Hepatitis A have been confirmed in Mombasa County since January this year. The County Health Executive Mohamed Abdi yesterday said of the 61 cases reported in the county, 10 had been confirmed negative while 51 had turned positive.
“Laboratory tests show 51 cases were positive,” said Dr Abdi. He said medical teams from the public health department had been dispatched to the sub-counties of Changamwe, Likoni, Mvita and Kisauni to contain the disease.
The officers were also working in Nyali and Jomvu sub-counties and creating awareness in schools. Mvita sub-county had the largest number of cases.
