Land agency to probe KenGen over sale of troubled land

The National Land Commission has summoned senior KenGen officials over the controversial acquisition of 3,093 acres in Narasha, Naivasha, from Ng’ati Farmers Co-operative.

This comes only days after Internal Security Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery revoked the acquisition of the land. The Land Commission's investigations seek to determine whether or not KenGen acquired the land and if due process was followed.

“We are seeking to know the total paid as there is controversy about the real amount and exactly who bought the land in question,” said commission chairman Muhammad Swazuri. Nkaissery noted that members of the land buying company were short-changed.
