Governor William Kabogo has said his county is not ready to surrender the Department of Health Services back to the national government, adding they are equal to the task.

"Who would want to surrender a function that is already devolved? Here in Kiambu, we have no problem as our hospitals are operational. Our doctors and nurses are at work and we are also equal to the task," said Kabogo.

The governor noted that they have promoted nurses who had stagnated in one position for a long time, adding they have also employed others to ensure there is no crisis in the county.

Early this month, nurses in Kiambu District Hospital had threatened to go on strike due to delayed payment but were paid on the same day.

The governor (pictured) added the county was well prepared to handle health services, noting they had put in place proper structures across the 60 wards in the county.
