Embu, Kenya: A 55-year-old man has committed suicide a week after his brother disappeared in a forest in Keria area, Embu County.

Emilio Gichovi allegedly hang himself on Tuesday morning, a day after reporting the disappearance of his brother, Patrick Muriithi, 50, to Manyatta Police Station.

Area OCPD Kasimba Kadzomba said officers were investigating the incident to establish whether the suicide was connected to the disappearance of the man’s brother.

“It is puzzling why after reporting his brother as missing the man took his life whereas he would have assisted the police to search for his brother,” said Kadzomba.

The late Gichovi had reportedly set out with his brother and another man to Irangi forest to harvest honey from beehives.

Muriithi is said to have disappeared after he was left alone at a food place.
