Kenya: The Deliverance Church Kenya Council has urged clergy in the country to enrol into theological school to master the art of leadership in ministry to avoid the theatrics facing the country.

The church’s general overseer Bishop Mark Kariuki expressed his resentment by section of false prophets that were tainting the church’s image in Kenya at the expense of real men of God.

Bishop Kariuki regretted that the actions of the rogue pastors centred on conning worshippers thus discouraging the mainstream church from preaching on giving.

“But we will be known as a church for learned and financially sound preachers because that is why we are encouraging our pastors to advance in their education,” he told a gathering of over 100 preachers drawn from the North Rift region.

Speaking on behalf of the council, North Rift regional overseer Bishop George Gichana urged Kenyans and the media to desist from vilifying all preachers because of a few imposters that were tainting the image of the church in Kenya.

Bishop Gichana noted that not all preachers in Kenya engaged in misguided teachings of selling water and oil to believers.

“Use of oil in the bible and giving offerings was there and will continue to be there but it is important to understand their proper application that can well be understood by attending theological colleges,” he said.
