Former President Mwai Kibaki has lauded Masinde Muliro University for promoting information communication and technology through their academic programmes, saying these are the pillars that will enable the country achieve vision 2030.
Speaking during the 7th graduation ceremony at the institution, Kibaki called for incorporation of ICT in all fields of studies.
Kibaki said that despite the challenges of infrastructure and high enrolment, the university is on the on the path to becoming a distinguished institution of higher learning in East Africa.
Kibaki, who is also MMUST chancellor, said the growth of infrastructure at the university in the past few years has seen the university contribute to the country’s economic sector.
The Vice chancellor Prof Fredrick Otieno said they are focused on making sure that the students who are enrolled get good quality education to transform our society.
During the ceremony the university also received an ISO certification certificate presented by James Ombwayo an official from Kenya Bureau of Standards, western region.
Obwayo congratulated the institution for its commitment to best practices in service delivery and integration of innovation and research in its training.
