Kansas City Chiefs fan swaps rings for tickets

A Kansas City woman has swapped her old wedding rings for tickets to see her beloved Chiefs play.

The Overland Park, Kansas, woman posted an ad on Craiglist in search of NFL tickets in exchange for the rings from a previous marriage.

A long-time season ticket holder, who was in the market for an engagement ring for his girlfriend, tracked down the woman after reading about her offer in the news.

The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, sent an email to local media confirming she had sealed the transaction.

"It's official! I have tickets to the game!!!" she wrote.

"We met at a jewellery store so they could verify the ring was real and matched the appraisal I had provided him."

The buyer, 49-year-old Rusty Jones, said he and his girlfriend had started talking about engagement rings a month ago.

Mr Jones parted ways with four end zone seats to Kansas City's highly-anticipated game against the Denver Broncos.

Individual tickets in the same section are currently priced between $340 (£210) and $426 (£265) on StubHub.com.

The rings were appraised at $2,800 (£1,740).

Mr Jones also handed over two tickets for the Chiefs' upcoming game against the San Diego Chargers.

The woman told local media the tickets would be a belated 40th birthday present for her current husband.
