A charitable organization has started a project of planting fruit trees in schools in a bid to boost nutrition and the country's forest cover.

On 26th September 2017, Kenya Re in collaboration with Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya (APDK) and Standard Group the main media partner flagged off Phase two of the PWD awareness and accessibility caravan in a bid to lift stigma towards persons living with disability and to provide assistive and mobility devices to over 1300 Persons Living with Disability (PWDs) across the country.

Kenya Re launches new campaign to renovate Lenana School to help physically challenged students
Lenana High School will soon have a dormitory designed to accommodate students with physical disability. The project, financed by the Kenya Reinsurance Corporation (Kenya Re) through its first phase of the ‘Niko Fiti – Ability Beyond Disability’ campaign, aims to increase enrolment of students with disabilities at the national school. The Standard Group PLC is the campaign’s official media partner and will help create awareness through its various media platforms that include KTN Home, KTN News, the Standard newspapers, Radio Maisha, and digital platforms.
Twelve physically challenged children from a children's home in West Pokot will benefit from wheelchairs. Back in 2010. The home has grown over the years and included a primary school which caters for children upto standard four while the rest attending upper classes go to nearby school. It has also opened its doors to children with hearing impairment. "The home is God sent for the children and several others in the future. We look after their every life aspect including education, medication, revelation and community building," said Fr Staples. The home however still urgently needs water, more wheelchairs, solar panel, transport, medical assistance among others higher learning institution.
