Murder suspect remanded for 14 days at Juja Police Station

Evans Karani, the main suspect arrested for the murder of his lover Catherine Nyokabi in Kimbo has been remanded at Juja Police Station for two weeks.

Thika Law Courts Senior Resident Magistrate Oscar Wanyaga gave officers investigating the murder case 14 more days to conclude their investigations before the suspect takes a plea.

This is after the suspect asked the magistrate to make his ruling early so that he can start serving his sentence.

On Friday, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested 38-year-old Karani from Githurai Kimbo, over his girlfriend’s killing.

The suspect is accused of murdering his 25-year-old lover in Witeithie area of Juja in Kiambu County on Wednesday, April 14.

According to the DCI, while transporting Nyokabi’s body in his car, Karani’s vehicle got stuck in the mud on Bob Harris road in Juja, forcing him to flee, leaving the body and car behind.

A hunt for Karani was, consequently, launched by a multi-agency team comprising police, DCI officers and the agency’s Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) officers.
