From Football to Volleyball: Nyakach Girls' unbeatable run at Kisumu County Games

Under the radiant skies of Maseno School, the Kisumu County Secondary School Games concluded in a blaze of glory for Nyakach Girls High School.

Their overwhelming dominance saw them clinch titles in football, volleyball, netball, rugby sevens, and basketball 3x3, cementing their legacy as the queens of Kisumu County.

In a display of sheer football prowess, Nyakach Girls capped their unbeaten run with a commanding 3-1 victory over Kudho Mixed Secondary School.

The crowd erupted as Maureen Atieno found the back of the net twice, her agility and precision leaving the opponents in disarray. Emily Adhiambo sealed the triumph with a goal that showcased both her skill and the team’s indomitable spirit.

Reflecting on the win, Nyakach Girls football coach Chrispine Odindo praised his players' dedication but remained focused on the road ahead.

"The girls have shown incredible determination and skill. However, the job is not yet done. Our eyes are firmly set on the Nyanza Regional finals in Kisii," Odindo stated.

The volleyball court echoed with the cheers of Nyakach supporters as the team dismantled St Gregory Koru Girls in a straight-sets victory (3-0) to retain their county title.

Coach Emmanuel Obimbo attributed their success to rigorous training and unyielding teamwork. "Our girls played with heart and precision. The way they communicated and executed their strategies was impeccable. We aim to carry this momentum into the regional finals," he said.

Obimbo also thanked the support of Senior Principal Millicent Alaka for supporting sports in the institution, support that has seen Nyakach excel not only in one sport but each and every category.

In a thrilling rugby sevens final, Nyakach Girls showcased their resilience and tenacity, overcoming a 10-0 halftime deficit to rout Ojola 32-10.

The second half was a masterclass in determination and tactical brilliance, as Nyakach turned the tide in their favor with an exhilarating display of athleticism and teamwork.

The basketball 3x3 court was yet another stage where Nyakach's prowess shone brightly. They triumphed over St Barnabas 11-5 in the finals, having previously dispatched Rae Girls 5-2 in the semis after a flawless run through the group stages against Katolo, Sinyolo Girls, and Koru Girls. Their dominance in basketball was a testament to their versatility and comprehensive preparation across multiple sports disciplines.

Nyakach's netball team capped their county campaign with an overwhelming 85-12 victory over Kajulu, a performance that epitomized their superior skill and strategy. Each goal was a statement, each play a demonstration of their unparalleled mastery of the game.

While Nyakach Girls celebrated their sweeping victories, Maseno School claimed the rugby sevens boys' title with a narrow 7-0 win over Otieno Oyoo Secondary School.

Nyabondo also emerged victorious in boys' volleyball, defeating Onjiko 3-0. Both schools now set their sights on regional glory alongside Nyakach.
