Am in love for marriage, but my friends are not (Photo: iStock) Hi Chris, Most of my girlfriends say they want to stay single. But my boyfriend is really lovely and I want to marry him! Are my friends right? Is marriage really such a risky idea these days? Risky Idea? Chris says,Hi, Risky Idea?! Your friends are dead wrong. Marriage is still a very good idea. Happily married couples are healthier, wealthier and live longer than singles. And it's only married couples who can really get close to each other.But all too often they start to take each other for granted. The romance fades and no one makes the effort. They're the couples that give marriage a bad name!So never stop taking care of your appearance, either of you. Say 'I love you' often and mean it. Continue to share your hopes, dreams and deepest secrets.Couples easily get into the habit of complaining about each other all the time. Instead, tell each other what you like about each other. It can be hard to find time to be alone together when you have children. So organise everyone's schedules so that you have time for each other. Good marriages need at least one meaningful, uninterrupted conversation a day. Even a few minutes can make all the difference. Keep finding new ways to be romantic together. Couples often end up using touch as a preamble to intimacy. So make lots of touching part of your daily communication. Hold hands, kiss, sit and sleep close together. Because affectionate touching deepens the bond between you. And when you kiss and hug, hold on for at least 20 seconds. You'll be a much happier couple. Make a point of being sexy together. And don't complain about your partner disappointing you in the bedroom if you've never really said what you want! So tell each other what you like and what you don't. Let your fantasies run wild. Be adventurous and try everything, at least once! Because novelty really matters. So always be imaginative and wild young lovers, even if you have to wait until the kids are asleep!
