So far, 89 samples have been submitted to our laboratories, with 79 testing negative for Mpox.

Kenya has confirmed another case of Mpox, bringing the total number of cases in the country to three.

According to the Ministry of Health, the latest patient is a 30-year-old woman from Nairobi who recently traveled to Uganda.

"She is in stable condition and is being treated in an isolation unit in Nairobi," stated Health Director General Patrick Amoth.

Dr. Amoth added that active surveillance for suspected cases is ongoing nationwide to control the spread of the disease.

"To date, 89 samples have been submitted to our laboratories, with 79 testing negative for Mpox," he said.

The Ministry says some seven more samples are still being analysed.

The Health Ministry emphasised that health facilities are well-equipped to diagnose and manage Mpox cases, and there is no need for public panic. "To combat stigma and prevent further spread, we will continue to provide important updates through our official social media channels and the press," said Amoth.

This comes as the continent grapples with containing the disease, that has now spread in the thousands.
