AIC Maasai Mara Youth are the 2024 AIC Mara West youth tournament champions.

Despite being stretched to their limits, AIC Maasai Mara Youth eliminated the hard-fighting AIC Zion 4-3 during the AIC Mara West youth tournament played at AIC Maasai Mara church ground in Narok West sub county over the weekend.

The two teams fought for a barren draw in the normal and regulation time forcing the match referee to apply the penalty rule to break the deadlock.

On their way to finals, the hosts AIC Maasai Mara edged out AIC Jerusalem 4-3 in penalties after a goalless draw as AIC Zion beat AIC Olashaiki 2-0 in the other semis encounter.

The tournament was sponsored by AIC Maasai Mara elder Eng Johnson ole Nchoe as part of the celebrations of the annual youth convention in which more than 300 youths attended.

Six teams participated in the tournament which also coincided with the international youth day which was hosted on Monday and this year’s celebrated youth achievements and contributions to a peaceful society at a time when conflict, climate change and digital exclusion have exacerbated inequalities. Other teams participating are AIC Sekenani and AIC Uaso Nyiro.

Nchoe, is former Geothermal Development Company  Managing Director  and Chief Executive Officer, said that the aim of the tournament is to nurture young talents among the youths by urging them to exploit it and also diverting their attention against social vices like sex misuse and drug abuse.

“The youths should take the sporting activities with much seriousness and showcase their talents in sports, among other development issues in order to achieve something from it.

He added that such development initiatives should be encouraged in all the regions, as it will encourage young people to come together.
