Final Salute: Body of fallen CDF Gen. Francis Ogolla arrives in Kisumu

The body of fallen Chief of Defence Forces Francis Ogolla has been airlifted to Kisumu, ahead of his burial in Mor village in Ng’iya, Siaya County.

The body arrived at Kisumu Airport on Sunday, April 21 morning at around 7:40 am in a Kenya Airforce chopper.

There will be a sendoff service at Senator Obama Primary School before his remains are interred at his home.

So far, four Military outriders have made their way into the airport, with three military aircraft landing in the lakeside city.

A plane from Malawi has also touched down. We are yet to establish who was inside or used it.

The body is currently being processed.

People have gathered on the sides of the road outside the airport to get a glimpse and bid their last respects to the General.

The military outriders are to lead the procession which will be using the Kisumu to Luanda to Siaya Road to Senator Obama Primary School where the funeral Mass will happen.

Government officials and Cabinet secretaries are expected to be part of the procession to Siaya from the airport. 

By 8 am, Joel Rabuku Omondi, the General's son and other family members had landed at the airport.

By 9 am the body left the airport for his final resting place led by military vehicles. The procession is expected to go through Kisumu-Ndori-Kogelo in Alego.

The body of General Francis Ogolla made the first stop at the Barack Obama Learning and Excellence Centre in Kogello village.

Only the military personnel present and family members were granted access.

The body left at around 11 am.
