Woman Rep Ngugi launches 'tutam campaign' in Tharaka Nithi

Tharaka Nithi Woman Representative Susan Ngugi has launched the 'tutam movement' in support of President William Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki's re-election bid.

Ms Ngugi said the UDA duo deserves a second term because of their development progress so far, and that she will roll out the campaign in Tharaka Nithi, Embu and Meru.

Ngugi spoke at Kathwana when she addressed grassroots mobilisers from the Tharaka, aka, Maara and Chuka-Igambang'ombe constituencies.

She said the UDA regime has improved infrastructure, rural electrification, agriculture, affordable housing, job opportunities for the youth and other development programmes.

"These are the visible results of leadership that delivers," said Ms Ngugi, who has expressed her interest for the Tharaka Nithi Governor's seat in 2027.

"Tutam is a movement. I want to assure you that President Ruto will serve his second term in 2027, with Prof. Kithure Kindiki," she said.

She said the recruitment of more campaigners and supporters for Ruto's reelection will spread to all parts of the region.

"We are going to lead the 'Tutam Movement' and ensure we reach all over Mt Kenya East. We will reach and engage more people to support this government," she added.

Ngugi said their aim was to ensure all voters in Mt Kenya East (Meru, Embu and Tharaka Nithi) support Ruto and Kindiki.

"For the first time in history, Tharaka Nithi holds the position of Deputy President, a great honour that we must guard jealously by giving Prof Kindiki the full support," she said.

Ngugi, a former Marimanti MCA, said their hope was for Kindiki to succeed President Ruto in 2032.

"We are going to pray and believe that in 2032 Prof. Kindiki will be the next president," she said.

At the same time, Ngugi supported Ruto, who last week accused MPs of engaging in corruption, saying public resources must be protected.

"There are leaders who are squandering public resources. This money is not ours. When I am given NGAF (National Government Affirmative Fund), it should be used to benefit the people," she said.
