Following the widespread sharing of a video showing a concerning incident at a hospital in Port Victoria, Busia County, Ababu Namwamba, the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports, has spoken out. The video features a woman and an armed man allegedly using Namwamba's name to harass medical staff.
The video reveals a tense situation where the woman demands immediate attention for her injured patient, threatening to involve 'Ababu' if her requests are not met. Their disruptive behavior creates chaos in the hospital by verbally abusing and disrespecting the healthcare staff.

In response, Namwamba distanced himself from the actions in the video, stating that such behavior goes against his values and commitment to public service. He strongly condemned any actions that go against the principles of integrity in a clear statement.

"I want to address recent discussions about my name. The actions associated with me in the video do not align with my values or commitment to public service. I strongly condemn any behavior against principles of integrity," Namwamba expressed.
To reassure the public, Namwamba confirmed that a thorough investigation into the incident is underway. He promised to take decisive actions to address any wrongdoing, emphasizing his commitment to rebuilding trust through transparency and corrective measures.
"I am thoroughly investigating these allegations and will take decisive actions to rectify any wrongdoing. My commitment to serving you remains strong, and I am dedicated to rebuilding trust through transparency and corrective measures. Thank you for your understanding during this challenging time," Namwamba assured.
Meanwhile, Davji Bhimji Atellah, the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists, and Dentists Union (KMPDU) National Secretary-General and Chief Executive Officer, condemned the incident.
He labeled it as "rudimentary, illegal, and immoral," expressing concern about the growing trend of politicians and their associates threatening healthcare workers.
"This is rudimentary, illegal, and immoral. The attitude and actions of politicians and their cronies threatening healthcare workers at their place of work should be stopped. The safety of healthcare workers is at risk in such situations. The individuals responsible for this act should be held accountable urgently," urged Davji, emphasizing the need for swift action.
