The Commission for University Education has decided on the location of Nyamira State University.
The commission says the institution will be located at Kiabonyoru Mixed High School which will be phased out to give space.
The phasing out programme will, however, be known after the commission's report and recommendations are taken up by the Ministry of Education.

The commission's Chief Executive Officer Mike Kuria did not specify the timelines for the establishment of the university.
“As you know there are procedures that are laid down for an institution like this to start. We are now up and running to ensure all the procedures are well undertaken before we declare the university as open and functional,” Kuria said.
The proposed university college will start as a constituent college of Kisii University.
Kuria, Kisii University Vice Chancellor Nathan Ogechi and North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko led a delegation from the commission to the school.
They were there for a physical inspection and verification of the report by the taskforce that was mandated to recommend the ideal location.
Nyamoko said President William Ruto’s hand in the university was a gesture towards the success of its establishment and urged the commission to hasten the process of having the approval by the education ministry.
“The President made a commitment of enabling the starting of the university with an initial funding of Sh500 million,” Nyamoko said.
