UDA party nominations underway in Ol Kalau

The ruling United Democratic Alliance party (UDA) is currently holding its Ol Kalau nominations in different parts of the constituency.
The party has 10 candidates who are seeking the to run for office using the President William Ruto-led party’s ticket.
The seat fell vacant when the David Kiaraho died Sunday, 29th March 2026, while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital.
He had been elected on a Jubilee Party ticket in 2017 and survived the UDA wave in the run up to the 2022 general elections to retain his seat.

The by election is set to take place on July 16, 2026.
The main candidates are expected to come from UDA, Jubilee and the Rigathi Gachagua-led Democracy for Citizens Party, which is set to hold its nominations tomorrow.
The by-election is shaping up to be a popularity test for President Ruto in the Mt Kenya region as he seeks to woo the mountain to back his re-election bid.
