Female leaders allied to the ODM party have threatened to enforce a peculiar 'sacrifice' that may make put some men in a dry spell.
The leaders are pushing for Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga’s election as a deputy party leader of ODM.
Wanga is eyeing one of the vacancies created by the exit of Hassan Joho and Wycliffe Oparanya who have been appointed Cabinet Secretaries by President Ruto.
But the group of women in Homa Bay County comprising ODM officials and Homa Bay MCAs have threatened a sex fast.
The leaders include Kojwach MCA Joan Ogada, Nominated MCA Florence Ouma and women leader in Suba South Constituency Beryl Omondi.

Addressing journalists in Homa Bay Town, the politicians vowed to do all it takes to ensure Wanga becomes one of the deputy party's leaders.
As a matter of ensuring that their demand is met, Ouma said they had started praying and fasting (sex and food) to ensure Wanga gets the position.
“We have decided to fast as Homa Bay female leaders. We are going to fast for sex, fast through prayer and avoid taking some meals until Wanga achieves her ambition,” Ouma said.
She urged men to be patient with them during their fasting period.
“Let men not think that we are being disobedient to them because we have decided to fast for sex. They should bear with us because we are women on a mission,” Ouma said.
According to Ogada, fasting is the only way to make God hear their prayers.
Omondi appealed to men to be patient until the end of their fasting duration. She added that those who drink alcohol will also fast.
Ouma said Wanga would rise to higher politcal ranks if she becomes a deputy party leader.
“Look at Oparanya and Joho who held the position of the deputy party leader. Today they have been nominated Cabinet Secretaries,” Ouma said.
Ogada argued that Wanga’s ascension to the post will enable women to achieve the two thirds gender rule both in ODM party and other elective posts in Kenya.
Nominated MCA Pauline Achieng said Wanga’s loyalty to the party also makes her suitable for the position.
“Wanga has been loyal to the party and ODM party leadership should give her the position,” Achieng said.
Homa Bay Central MCA Monoflorita Ondiek said Wanga had done a lot in uniting Homa Bay in ODM.
“She has never forgotten women and we believe she will help more women if she ascends to this position,” Ondiek said.
