There are many lessons to learn from the impact of Saudi Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia's economic blueprint reform agenda, and how it has helped in advancing the country in several global indicators and achieving economic balance that enhances national stability. First, citizens have an important role in any development agenda, and it is important to empower them in shaping the future of the nation.
Leaders must remain committed to the role of their people and dedicate themselves to achieving the highest quality of life, and sustainable development. The citizen is considered both the foundation and goal of Saudi Vision 2030. The Saudi government recognises citizens' achievements and the empowerment of national talent as part of the efforts to strengthen the role of citizens as key contributors to sustainable development.
This includes providing the necessary educational and training opportunities to develop skills and competencies. Innovation, education and knowledge are some of the core values of Saudi Vision 2030. Investments and empowerment of citizens has made the Kingdom a desirable destination for major international events and companies, as evidenced by its selection to host Expo 2030 and its preparations to host the FIFA World Cup in 2034, among others. Saudi Arabia is making efforts to enhance the skills and capabilities of the country's workforce to align with the demands of a knowledge-based economy, and putting in place mechanisms to build and drive healthier employment opportunities for citizens and migrants in the country.

The country is providing opportunities for all through education and training, and employment initiatives. Second, leaders must have genuine passion for development and mobilise citizens around development vision - leaders must believe in the vision. The promising outcomes being realised regarding progress of Saudi Vision 2030's objectives are partly attributed to firm will for change, genuine passion for development and a deep belief in its goals and outputs.
Third, achievement of any vision depends on plans and action. Saudi Arabia has developed plans and put in place mechanisms for supervision. Also, partnerships are essential for greater achievement. Cooperation with the private sector is essential for achieving the development goals. For example, Saudi Arabia seeks to provide better opportunities with the private sector to improve the business environment. In recent years, the country has been welcoming qualified individuals from all over the world and is focused on forging mutually beneficial partnerships with other nations. Raphael Obonyo, Nairobi
