Mr Ayieko went missing on Friday, October 21 after attending a funeral vigil in Nyamninia, Siaya County.
His orange pick-up truck was later found abandoned near a petrol station in Sabatia, Vihiga county which is just a few kilometers from where his body was found.
Ayieko’s body was found floating in a river at Doho village, in Gem a few days after he went missing.
This comes as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested a suspect linked to the brutal murder.
The suspect identified as Victor Ouma was apprehended in Nairobi's Dandora Phase IV estate on Monday night, after being tracked for several days.
He is currently detained at Muthaiga Police Station.
"The suspect, held at Muthaiga Police Station, was placed at the crime scene through forensic analysis," the DCI said, noting that the investigation is being conducted by a joint team from the Homicide, CRIB, and Operations units.
Detectives believe the suspect had rented a residence using proceeds from the crime.
