Former President Uhuru Kenyatta made a public appearance, weeks after speculations of his health condition emerged online.
On Thursday evening, the retired president shared news of his arrival in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) for an event by the African Union.
Uhuru will be attending the 15th High-Level Retreat convened by AU on the Promotion of Peace, Security, and Stability in Africa.
"Former President Uhuru Kenyatta in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire for the 15th High-Level Retreat on the Promotion of Peace, Security, and Stability in Africa. The retreat will focus on the Impact and Sustainability of AU Preventive Diplomacy and Mediation in addressing conflicts across the continent," a post on his official X page reads.
About a month ago, rumors that Uhuru was very sick emerged online, leaving Kenyans with questions on the whereabouts of the former head of state.
