Government releases Sh3.4 billion for Inua Jamii payouts

The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has disbursed Sh3.4 billion for the August payments under the Inua Jamii programme.
Labour Principal Secretary Joseph Motari said in a statement on Thursday, 5 September, that the funds would support 1,703,401 beneficiaries, up from 1,681,623 in July.
"Payment will commence on Friday, 6 September, to beneficiaries across the country," said Motari.
He added, "The Inua Jamii programme supports vulnerable groups, including older persons, orphans and those with severe disabilities, by providing a regular stipend."
Motari said, "The government plans to implement this expansion in phases," adding, "Payments will continue as scheduled on the 15th of each month."
