Collins Jomaisi Khalisia has been identified as the prime suspect in the Kware dumpsite killings.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss Mohammed Amin says the suspect confessed to killing 42 women between 2022 to date and disposed of their bodies in the dumpsite in two years.

"The suspect alleged that the first victim was his wife, whom he strangled to death, dismembered, and dumped at the site. He has confessed to having lured, killed and disposed of a total of 42 female bodies," Amin said.

The suspect was ambushed at his Kware home, and various items were found in his possession.

Among those items recovered from Khalisia are 24 SIM cards, 8 smartphones, a hard drive, a laptop, and a machete.

The suspect who stays less than a kilometre from the Kware dumpsite, where at least 10 bodies were discovered and retrieved, includes a pair of gloves, 6 identification cards for women, panties, and rolls of bhang.

Also found in his house were 12 sacks that are similar to the ones used to cover the bodies that were found dumped in the dumpsite.

This revelation comes at a time when DCI is continuing with an autopsy for the female mutilated bodies recovered at the quarry with the family members and the media are being invited to participate in the process.

“We intend to conduct postmortem examinations tomorrow, and we are inviting all stakeholders, civil society, family members, members of the fourth estate because we are not hiding anything," Amin stated on Sunday, July 15.
