A religious forum seeking to mobilise youth against violence has been planned for two days in Nairobi.
The conference, hosted by religious leaders in partnership with Australia-based Catch the Fire Repentance Revival Ministry, will take place on August 9 and 10 at Weston Hotel.
The forum comes in the wake of recent protests led by Gen Z, who have been demanding accountability and good governance.
The protests, which spread across the country, resulted in several deaths and injuries.
Pastor Robert Clancy of Catch the Fire Repentance Revival Ministry noted the role of spiritual guidance and the impact of words on the nation’s future.

“The words of our mouth will determine the future of this nation. We must speak blessings upon it, especially for troubled youths seeking direction,” he said.
Clancy said many youths lack proper wisdom and leadership.
“There are many youths today who are scattered looking for direction and there is no wisdom or leadership,” he noted.
He urged believers to play a role in shaping the nation’s future and invited Kenyans to attend the conference.
Clancy also called on the government to engage with the youth to address the unrest, stressing the importance of listening to their concerns for achieving lasting peace.
At the same time, he cautioned against hate speech, which he said can lead to division and economic disruption.
“We must be mindful of our words and actions. Hate speech only serves to divide us and weaken our nation,” he said.
