Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested three individuals in Donholm, Nairobi after they were found in possession of 298 pellets of cocaine.

The suspects, identified as Sharon Debra Achieng’, 25, Leon Ochieng’, 28, and Ronald Onyango, 25, were apprehended at their residence in the New Donholm area.

The DCI, in its ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking, acted on intelligence to intercept the suspects.

The Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) and the Operations Support Unit (OSU) discovered a black suitcase in their possession. The suitcase contained a few clothes, toiletries, and three teddy bears.

Upon inspection, the teddy bears were found to be concealing the cocaine pellets, weighing approximately 6.8kg with a street value estimated at Sh27.5 million.

At the same time, several air tickets for different destinations in the name of the female suspect were discovered, along with Sh37,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds from the illegal trade.

“We thank the members of the public who continue to share actionable information,” the DCI said on X.

The DCI also issued a stern warning to traffickers, noting that their efforts would only earn them legal consequences.

“Traffickers’ misplaced efforts will only earn them tickets to courtrooms and correctional facilities,” the DCI noted.
