Sitoyo Lopokoiyit appointed Safaricom's M-pesa Africa Managing Director

Sitoyo Lopokoiyit has been appointed as Safaricom's M-pesa Africa Managing Director.
In an announcement made on Wednesday, Sitoyo's appointment take effect immediately.
According to Safaricom, for the last three years, Sitoyo has been the Chief Financial Services Officer.
Prior to this, Sitoyo was the director of M-Commerce in Vodacom-Tanzania where he attained a 10-year experience in the Mobile-money sector.
He joined Safaricom in 2011 as head of Mpesa strategy and business development, a role he held before he moved to Vodacom Tanzania as Director M-Commerce in 2015.

"Prior to Safaricom, Sitoyo worked at Total Kenya as diversification manager and later as the head of Total Solar business," read part of the notice.
Sitoyo also worked for Uchumi supermarkets as a Category Manager and at Chevron Kenya ltd as Business Advisor and Merchandasie Manager.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in marketing and a Master of Science in Information Technology Management and Organisational Change.
"We shall initiate the relevant talent sourcing processes to identify and appoint the next financial services leader in due course," the notice said.
The firm said in the meantime, Sitoyo will continue discharging all functions of the Chief Financial Services Officer.
