Newly crowned Coast Region football champions, Dr Aggrey, are gearing up for a remarkable debut at the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) National Term Two games.

The team, known for their basketball prowess, is set to face Takaba Boys from North Eastern in their opening match on Sunday, aiming for a perfect start to their campaign.

Dr Aggrey's journey to the nationals in football has been nothing short of sensational.

Traditionally celebrated for their dominance in basketball, where they clinched the national title by defeating Agoro Sare High School from Nyanza in the Term One finals in Machakos, their success in football has taken many by surprise.

This dual achievement highlights the school’s growing versatility and athletic excellence.

The driving force behind Dr Aggrey’s sporting success is their Principal, Robert Aran. His passion for sports has been instrumental in fostering a culture of athletic excellence at the school.

Dr Aggrey, placed in Group B, will compete alongside fellow newcomers Takaba, Highway Secondary School, and St Joseph Boys Kitale. The all-rookies tie between Dr Aggrey and Takaba Boys promises to be an intriguing encounter, with both teams eager to make a strong impression.

The absence of defending champions St Anthony’s has left the boys’ title wide open. This year, the spotlight will be on 2022 finalists Highway Secondary School from Nairobi, Rift Valley’s St Joseph’s Kitale—who eliminated St Anthony’s at the county level—Musingu High School from Western, and homeboys Koderobara, who are among the favorites.

Highway and St Joseph’s Kitale will face off in their opening Group B match, setting the stage for a thrilling competition.

Meanwhile, Koderobara will take on last year’s only surviving team, Kirangari from Central, in another anticipated clash.

In Group A, Musingu High School, chasing their second national title after a four-decade-long wait, will play against Eastern’s Machakos School.

As Dr Aggrey prepares for their historic debut, they are focused on executing their game plan effectively.
