Sofapaka beat Naivas FC 1-0 in the first leg of the 2023-2024 FKF Premier League promotion playoff played at the Police Sacco Stadium over the weekend.
The first half started rather cagey, with both teams creating chances and exercising caution to avoid conceding. It ended with a barren draw.
With equal chances gained and lost in the second half, the game seemed destined for a draw until one minute to stoppage time.
Sofapaka's Jacob Onyango scored the decisive goal, giving his team an advantage as they prepare for the second leg on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Dandora Stadium.

If the aggregate score is tied after regular time in the second match, the team with the greater number of away goals will be declared the winner.
However, if the teams are tied on both aggregate and away goals, the match will proceed to penalties. The winner of the shootout will secure a place in next season's top tier.
Sofapaka FC will be fighting to maintain their top-tier league status, while Naivas is seeking a chance to make their inaugural appearance in the FKFPL.
