Marini Naturals CEO Michelle Ntalami proudly marked her first year of sobriety recently.
In an Instagram post, Ntalami shared her success of living without alcohol for a full year, including avoiding champagne and wine.
"Imagine fam, one full year of zero alcohol!" Ntalami wrote.
She reflected on the early days of her journey, recalling how some people doubted she could maintain her sobriety after her initial 30-day milestone.
"When I first shared that I was celebrating my 30-day milestone, some folks laughed and said 30 days is too short and soon I'll be back at it. Well here we are, a full year!" she said.

Ntalami's decision to quit alcohol came before a significant spiritual experience she had. She began making positive changes in her life, such as stopping her visits to clubs and clearing out her alcohol stash.
"Quitting alcohol is something I did even before my encounter with God. While I was never addicted, it doesn't take one to be addicted to let go of a bad habit," she explained.
She highlighted that overcoming bad habits doesn't require religious motivation.
"It is absolutely possible by your own volition," she said. "This is my sincere encouragement to you who is thinking of letting go of anything. God gave us our own will-power to make and stick to the right choices in life. YOU CAN DO IT."
Ntalami advised people to start by removing negative influences from their lives.
"Start by cutting out the negative influences that lead to your bad habit; the spaces and places, the people or person, the music, the supplier, etc. In time, you won't have the desire to engage in that habit anymore. It is possible, I DID IT!" she wrote.
Earlier this year, Ntalami shared a powerful story about her spiritual awakening. On August 21, 2023, she experienced intense fear and darkness.
"I could literally see death...it's almost like there was a spirit of death and darkness surrounding me," she said.
This moment of despair led her to seek God's help, which brought her comfort and a renewed sense of purpose.
Ntalami concluded her post by celebrating the positive changes in her life since becoming sober.
She noted improvements such as better skin, better sleep, and reclaiming her Sundays for spiritual reflection.
"Life alcohol-free since has been so beautiful!" she said. "Here's to one year alcohol-free and a lifetime to go!"
