Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Thursday, June 6, 2024, praised musician Bahati for his resolve despite the hurdles he has faced in life.
Speaking during the launch of The Bahatis Empire, a reality TV show that will showcase Bahati’s family and other celebrities, the DP lauded the strides made by ‘Mtoto wa Mama’ saying he is an inspiration to upcoming artistes.
"In just a decade since your debut in music, your growth has been amazing. For this, you are a flame of inspiration to thousands of upcoming and seasoned artists in Kenya, East Africa, and the African continent.
“You are opening a window showcasing Kenyan creativity to an audience of over 222 million subscribers in over 190 countries across the world. This show is taking Kenyan content to the world,” said the DP.
Gachagua added that the government fully supported artists and content creators in the creative industry and urged other creatives to follow Bahati's footsteps.

"While Diana and Bahati have pioneered this reality show, we look forward to more artists conquering the globe for Kenya to have a bite of the multibillion-dollar creative industry," he stated.
The DP also urged entertainers to invest their money wisely while at their peak, and keep off drugs and other vices that may derail their goals.
“I also appeal to you to keep off drugs and other harmful substances to your health. Your mental well-being is critical to your success. You guys make good money.
“Please invest wisely when you are still young because you will not be able to make it when you are old. Buy yourself a good plot and buy a home," he said.
The launch event was held at Westwood Hotel, with the official premiere on Netflix scheduled for June 7.
Several celebrities showed up to support Bahati, among them; Frasha, Stevo Simple Boy, comedian Chipukeezy, media personality Betty Kyalo, TikTokers Nasieku and Klause, Kaye Torwa, Jackie Matubia, Jackie Vike, Nicki Bigfish and Massawe Jappani.
This is not the first time Bahati and Diana are having a reality show in Kenya. From 2018 to 2020, they had another show called Being Bahati, which was such a success that they were nominated at the 2018 Kalasha Awards just three months after its debut.
The reality show was later renamed Bahati Reality and aired on NTV Kenya. Despite its success, the show had to end when COVID-19 struck.
