The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has disbursed Sh9.46 billion to 309,178 university students across the country.
According to Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba, the funds include Sh5.76 billion for tuition fees and Sh3.7 billion for student upkeep.
The CS urged students to log into their HELB portals to confirm receipt of the funds and to access details of their individual loan accounts.
Ogamba reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring higher education remains affordable and accessible to all, stating that no student should miss out on learning opportunities due to financial challenges.
On July 31, the CS had promised to disburse the money coinciding with the reopening of universities.
