Kitui Governor Julius Malombe has nominated three candidates to fill top positions in his administration, and forwarded the names to the County Assembly for vetting.
In a statement to the media, the governor announced the nomination of Agnes Mulewa for the position of County Secretary, Timothy Muange as County Attorney, and Christopher Okumu as secretary to the County Public Service Board.
“I have forwarded the names to the Assembly for vetting. The Assembly will do what they normally do and give me feedback,” Malombe said.
The three key county jobs attracted a high number of applicants, with 28 candidates applying for the County Secretary’s position and 11 for County Attorney while 24 for the secretary to the county public service board.

Following a rigorous interview process, only the top two candidates in each category were shortlisted and the list handed over to the governor. From the top two in each category, Malombe said he picked only the highest-ranked nominees for vetting.
“The names I have forwarded to the Assembly are for only those who were ranked number one after the interviews,” he said.
The positions were advertised in the The Standard and Daily Nation newspapers, thus offering a chance to all qualified individuals to apply.
The governor emphasized that the nominations are consistent with the constitutional values of merit, fairness, and inclusivity.
He now awaits the Assembly’s feedback on the suitability of the candidates before formal appointment.
