Senator Madzayo demands accountability for Kwa Binzaro deaths

Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo has urged the government to expedite investigations into the Kwa Binzaro deaths in Kilifi County, accusing authorities of failing to protect citizens.

Speaking Friday at Parliament Buildings, Madzayo questioned how bodies could be buried without the knowledge of the police.

“We demand answers from the police, particularly the Inspector General, to explain how this horror could happen less than two years after Shakahola,” he said.

“How many bodies must be dug out of our soil before you admit there is a fundamental breakdown in intelligence and security?”

The Kilifi Senator claimed the victims were not locals, suggesting they may have been killed elsewhere and their bodies transported to Kwa Binzaro.

“Anytime there is a crime, police are supposed to detect and prevent it. In this case, neither happened. We do not know where these people were killed or where the bodies came from. We cannot remain silent as Kenyans are murdered,” he said.

He also called on the government to relocate bodies from the Shakahola massacre that have been stored in a container outside Malindi District Hospital for nearly two years, saying the situation has stalled hospital development.

“We have about 300 bodies in a container at the hospital grounds. Until they are moved, we cannot expand or improve the facility.”

Madzayo further demanded the establishment of a permanent police post in Kwa Binzaro to prevent similar atrocities.
