Members of Parliament from Central Kenya are now calling for full investigations into the recent violent demonstrations in the region that left scores dead and property worth millions destroyed.
Under the Mount Kenya Parliamentary Caucus, the MPs who are pro-government noted that the violence was instigated by reckless and selfish politics.
The move comes days after the opposition accused the government of funding and planning the demonstrations that rocked various towns in Central Kenya.
Addressing the press after a one-day retreat in Enashipai Spa in Naivasha, the over 40 legislators said that no one should be spared in the investigations.

In a joint statement read by Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie, the legislators condemned the hooliganism, noting that the region’s economy was adversely affected.
Flanked by the MPs, Kiarue said that no cause, political ambition, or grievance should come at the cost of innocent lives.
“We stand with the ordinary mwananchi whose life has been disrupted and whose dignity has been trampled in the crossfire of political irresponsibility.”
“We mourn with the families who have lost so much in the recent chaos, and we vow to do everything in our power to ensure this never happens again,” he said.
The MP noted that some of the attacks targeted critical economic facilities in Mount Kenya, adding that the acts of arson and looting had destroyed businesses that residents ’relied on.
“We demand thorough investigations into the chaos that led to loss of lives and destruction of property, and those directly responsible must be arrested and prosecuted,” he said.
He at the same time said that the MPs were confident with the direction that the government was taking despite public outcry on the state of the economy.
“We assert categorically that our community, like all Kenyans, has the right of choice to belong to any political association we deem beneficial,” he said.
Kiarie added that the Parliamentary Caucus was steadfast and eternally vigilant in protecting the interests of the Mountain and the rights of the electorate.
“We stand here as mandated, responsible, responsive, and strategic leaders with a clear vision for the people we represent, as our agenda is development, peace, and prosperity.”
“We urge all our people in Mount Kenya and across the nation to reject the politics of hate, fear, intimidation, and destruction," he said.
