With a promise to lift the title still placed on their fans, Nakuru teams have been drawn in what looks like the toughest groups in Prinsloo Sevens fixtures released by Kenya Rugby Union.

Menengai Oilers and Nakuru RFC promised their fans the Prinsloo Sevens title will not leave Nakuru Athletic Club to any other destination putting them under immense pressure to deliver on the title.

And in the fixtures released, Driftwood Sevens champions Kenya Harlequin are in Group A with Menengai Oilers, Zetech University and Mombasa RFC, proving it as one of the toughest groups in the series.

Oilers coach Gibson Weru said their group appears easy on paper but tough on the pitch saying the teams in the group have improved with every match and tournament.

“A good example is Zetech University who appears to be an easy team on paper but a tough one when you play them. But, we have prepared well and are ready for the tournament,” said Weru.

Oilers are taking one match at a time from the group stages to the final and Weru is keen on positive results from the first matches.

“It’s a match at a time and we’ll ensure the trophy remains at home in the chase for top honours,” said the former Kenyan international.

And with Nakuru RFC being in Group B with the overall series runners up KCB, Nondescripts and Mwamba RFC, head coach Simon Wariuki said they don’t disappoint when under pressure.

“When under intense pressure, that’s when we do well,” he said.

Group C has Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad as top seeds ahead of Strathmore Leos, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) and Catholic University Monks.

Kabras Sugar lead Group D that also comprise of Daystar University Falcons, Stallions and Kabarak University.
