Former ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo has held a meeting with a British High Commission delegation to strengthen government performance.

This is the first meeting Owalo has held since President William Ruto appointed him the Deputy Chief of Staff.

In a statement released on Friday, September 6, Owalo said the meeting sought to explore collaboration avenues to improve the government's performance, adding that the current UK-Kenya development partnership is due for renewal.

"I had discussions this morning, with a delegation from the British High Commission that focused on potential areas of collaboration with respect to government performance and delivery. The meeting explored how the performance and delivery function can contribute to negotiations between Kenya and the UK in forming the next set of partnership priority areas between the two countries," Owalo's statement reads in part.

The British High Commission team was led by the Deputy High Commissioner, Dr. Ed Barnett, and the Political Counsellor, Zoe Wildig.

Owalo was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff by President William Ruto on August 23, 2024.

This was about a month after he fired him alongside 20 other Cabinet Secretaries following nationwide anti-tax protests.
