Kenya on Sunday recorded 234 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, from a sample of 3,737 raising the country's caseload to 246,530.
In a statement, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the new infections take the country’s positivity rate to 6.3 per cent and cumulated tests conducted so far to 2,498,049.
Out of the new patients, 118 are male, whereas 116 are female, with the youngest carrier being a four-year-old baby, and the oldest aged 97.
Of the new cases, 27 are foreigners while the rest are Kenyans.
Distribution
In terms of counties distribution, Nairobi leads with 49 cases, Kitui 48, Makueni 19, Turkana 14, Nakuru 12, Kiambu and Uasin Gishu 11 cases, Kajiado 10, Muranga 9, Garissa and Mombasa 8 cases each, Meru 4, Kakamega and Nyandarua 3 cases, Laikipia, Machakos, Marsabit, Bungoma, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nyeri, Thara Nithi and Wajir 2 cases each, Baringo, Kisii, Nandi, Kisumu, Kericho, Kwale, Embu, Homa Bay and Isiolo 1 case each.
Total recoveries now stand at 237,295 after 492 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours with 452 from the Home-Based and Isolation care programme while 40 are from various health facilities in the country.
Of the total recoveries, 191,983 are from the Home Based Isolation Care programme while 45,312 are from various hospitals countrywide.
A total of 1,433 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 3,246 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.
One hundred and nine (109) patients are in the ICU, 77 of whom are on ventilatory support and 25 on supplemental oxygen. Seven (7) patients are on observation.
Another 505 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 470 of them in general wards and 35 in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

Kenya has at September 18, 2021, administered 3,351,109 vaccines across the country.

Of these, the total first doses are 2,492,173 while the second doses are 858,936.
The uptake of the second dose by Priority Groups is as follows: Aged 58 years and above 248,185, others 271,748, Health Workers 139,216, Teachers 127,103 while Security Officers are at 72,684.
The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is at 34.5 per cent with the majority being males at 55 per cent while females are at 45 per cent. The proportion of adults fully vaccinated is 3.2 per cent.
