Kenya’s Covid-19 positivity rate continues to rise at 22.1 per cent way above the WHO threshold of five percent.
As of today, 1, 127 people tested positive for Covid-19 out of 5,393 sample size in the last 24 hours.
Confirmed cases now stand at 123, 167, from 1. 4 million tests conducted so far.
Reported deaths stand at 25 with three of those in the last 24 hours, and another 22 late death reports, pushing the total fatalities to 2,048.
On the bright side, 201 patients have recovered from Covid-19 and Health CAS Dr Rashid Aman urged Kenyans to adopt self-protection mechanisms and “to stay home when we can.”
The CAS warned healthcare facilities trying to profiteer from ailing and poor Kenyans. “This mentality of putting money ahead of our people's lives must stop. That is where other countries like India beat us,” said Dr Aman.
Of the new cases, 590 are male while 537 are female with the youngest being an eight-month-old baby, while the oldest is 97-years old.
Home Based Care and Isolation recoveries reached 110 patients with another 100 being discharged from various health facilities.
The cumulative recoveries are 90,586 with1, 090 patients currently admitted in healthcare facilities.
Another 3,224 in Home Based Care and Isolation, 125 patients are currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 24 on ventilatory support, 93 on supplementary oxygen and eight under observation.
Nairobi still leads with the most positive cases at 575.
