The Ministry of Health on Friday recorded 866 new coronavirus infections and six additional deaths.
In a statement by the Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe (pictured), the ministry said the total confirmed cases had risen to 87,249 after it tested some 7,815 people in the past 24 hours.
Additionally, the fatalities have now risen to 1,506.
From the new cases, 828 are Kenyans while 38 are foreigners.
The youngest infected person is a three-month-old infant while the oldest is 100-years-old, said the statement.
In terms of gender, 525 are males and 341 females.
CS Kagwe reported that most of the cases, were from Nairobi (273), followed by Mombasa (78), Nakuru (73), Kiambu (55) and Kirinyaga (49).
Other counties that reported cases were Nyamira 35, Kisumu 27, Kilifi 23, Kajiado 23, Uasin Gishu 21, Nyeri 21, Meru 19, Kericho 18, Busia 16, Machakos 15, Kisii 13, Bomet 12, Tana River 11, Siaya 11, Migori 10, Taita Taveta 9, Laikipia 9, Bungoma 8, Baringo 8, Murang'a 4, Embu 4, Homa Bay 3, Vihiga 3, Kitui 3, Lamu 3, Garissa 2, Nandi 2, Nyandarua 1, Narok 1, Wajir 1 Makueni 1, and Isioio 1.
The Nairobi cases are distributed as follows: Lang'ata (33), Kibra (26), Westlands (22), Makadara (20), Dagoretti North and Kasarani (19) cases each, Starehe (18), Embakasi West and Kamukunji (17) cases each, Roysambu (15), Mathare and Ruaraka (12), Embakasi Central (11), Embakasi East and Embakasi South (9) cases each, Embakasi North (8), Dagoretti South (6).
Fortunately, 322 patients have recovered from the disease, 259 from the HomeBased Care Program, while 63 have been discharged from various hospitals. Total recoveries now stand at 68,110.
The Ministry further said, there are 1,194 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide with 7,984 on Home Based Isolation and Care. 77 patients are in Intensive Care Units (ICU), 31 of whom are on ventilatory support, and 45 on supplemental oxygen.
Another 67 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen out of whom 57 are in; general wards. 10 are in High Dependency Units (HDU).
