Kenya has broken the 1000-mark ceiling for the second time recording the second-highest number of Covid-19 cases after 1,018 people tested positive for the disease in the past 24 hours. The figure, coming from a sample of 6,648 now raises the total caseload to 51,851.
In a statement sent by the Ministry of Health to Standard Digital, Kenya has now tested a cumulative sample of 672,771.
The country also posted its second highest death in a day since the beginning of the pandemic after 16 patients died from Covid-19. This increases the total number of fatalities to 950.
657 of those infected in the past 24 hours are male while 361 are female while the youngest case is a nine-month-old infant and the oldest is aged 96.
Of the new cases, 989 are Kenyans while 29 are foreigners.
The ministry said 426 patients recovered with 312 released from home-based care programme while 114 were discharged from various hospitals bringing the total number of recoveries to 35,258
A total of 1,060 patients are admitted in various health facilities while 4,230 are on home-based isolation and care. According to the ministry, those in hospitals, 36 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 14 on supplementary oxygen and 18 on ventilatory support.

39 counties have today registered at least one case with Nairobi and Mombasa leading with more than 100 new cases.
Nairobi has recorded 199 cases, Mombasa 117, Kiambu 102, Kericho 73, Nakuru 67, Bungoma 66, Uasin-Gishu 55, Kisumu 50, Kilifi 40, Kisii 30, Bomet 18, Siaya 18, Nyeri 16, West Pokot 16, Meru 14, Isiolo 14, Machakos 12, Murang’a 10, Nandi 10, Laikipia 9, Kajiado 9, Garissa 9, Busia 8, Tharaka-Nithi 6, Nyamira 6, Kirinyaga 5, Vihiga 5, Samburu 5, Kakamega 4, Kwale 4, Trans Nzoia 3, Baringo 3, Wajir 3, Turkana 2, Narok 2, Nyandarua 2, Taita Taveta 2, Tana River 2 and Migori 1.
