Covid-19: 39 in ICU as 195 test positive

Kenya has recorded 195 more Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of cases to 44,076.

In a statement sent to Standard Digital, the new cases come from a sample size of 1,852 bringing the total number of samples tested so far to 623,828.

From the cases, 176 are Kenyans and 19 are foreigners while 137 are male and 58 female. The youngest case being a five-month-old baby and the oldest patient is 75-years-old.

On a positive note, 227 people recovered from the disease with 146 from home-based care programme while 81 from various hospitals bringing the total number of recoveries to 32,084.

A total of 39 people are currently in ICU and another 39 on supplemental oxygen. The total number of those admitted in health institutions is 1,084 people while those in home-based isolation care are 2,480.

Unfortunately, seven people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of fatalities to 839.

Distribution

Nairobi continues to lead with 99 cases (more than 50 per cent of the numbers), Busia 18, Uasin Gishu 17, Meru 14, Mombasa 10, Kiambu 10, Murang’a 8. Nakuru 7, kajiado 3, Kisumu 2, Bungoma, Wajir, Kitui, Nyandarua and Nandi registered one (1) case each.

In Nairobi, the 99 cases come from Westlands 15, Dagoretti North 10, Roysambu 9, Lang’ata 8, Embakasi East and Ruaraka 7 cases each, Makadara 6, Embakasi South, Kasarani and Starehe 5 cases each, Dagoretti South, Embakasi Central, Embakasi West, Kamkunji and Kibra 4 cases each.
