Standard Group mourns news director who died in road accident

Standard Group is mourning following the death of Edwin Hanington Audi, a news director at KTN who met his death  in a grisly road accident near Maili along Namanga-Kajiado Road yesterday at 6:30pm.

The head on collision accident which claimed two lives, involved three vehicles, two lorries and a Toyota Probox, according to Kajiado Central Police boss Daudi Loronyokwe.

Edwin Audi died on the spot while rest of the passengers were rushed to Kajiado Referral Hospital.

Tributes from Audi’s colleagues continue to flow eulogizing him as a talented, calm, orderly and professional person.

Standard Group Human Resources Manager Joy Kaguri described the late Audi as a dedicated staff member.

"Audi was a calm, composed, social, friendly and he did not get into trouble with anyone. He did his job well and was a good team player," Kaguri said. 

His immediate boss, Nick Otieno, Head of News Production, KTN News said the late Edwin Audi was, "Focused and calm TV director who displayed a charming and cool personal demeanor, and who worked well with his peers in the newsroom."

Edward Indakwa, a senior editor who considered the deceased a close friend remembered the numerous occasions they shared time after duty.

"We have shared smokes and chapad stories for like five years at night on my press day, kutoa stress after the evening broadcast. We'd probably have become good buddies because we even spoke the same slang. Interestingly, intelligent informed, keen analytical mind, witty,” Indakwa said.

Zubeida Koome, KTN News Swahili news anchor expressed shock at Audi’s demise. 

"Edu was one of Kenya’s greatest news directors, very talented, thorough, professional, all the assignments we’ve gone for were full of fun, your news directing was top notch. I will surely miss you my friend and colleague, we all will, RIP my brother. It is well, till we meet again. May God comfort your family," she said.

Berly Ringos, KTN News director is yet to come to terms. "You have shocked me. I can't believe Audi is no more. I have known him for three years where we worked on several shows together. He took life so simple and loved saying 'Usiwahi tense wherever there was panic. RIP Audi. You lived well with your colleagues and those are the lessons we learn,” she eulogized him.

Mark Namaswa, news reporter said Audi’s death was tragic and a big loss to the entire production department.
