Protests rocked Kisumu and Nairobi on Tuesday to push for reforms in the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The Anti-IEBC demonstrations that had been called off last week by National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders in order to allow them visit victims of police brutality across the country. The coalition has since condemned police for using excessive force in quelling demonstrators.
NASA leader Raila Odinga had announced that demonstrations will resume Tuesday and will proceed daily until all the necessary changes are realised and free and fair elections held.
Raila Odinga has been campaigning against the October 26 poll date urging supporters to boycott the election. Raila claims IEBC cannot deliver a credible poll on the specific date.
The NASA leader is Wednesday expected to make a major announcement giving the way forward regarding the repeat presidential election.
State House is however adamant that the elections will take place and police have been deployed to ensure the election is not disrupted. This includes recruits from all the police training colleges and achunk of officers recently withdrawn from VIP protection services.
