A pair of twins, who were separated for two decades by a brutal conflict, have been reunited in an emotional meeting after a neighbour noticed their resemblance on TikTok. In a 'Parent Trap' like scenario, 24-year-old Trena Mustika grew up with her father, never knowing she had a twin sister.

The twins were reunited for the first time since 1999 after bloody sectarian conflicts broke out on a small Indonesian island. The parents, Enceng Dedi and Enok Rohenah, decided to relocate to different parts of the country after the conflict and each took one of the twins with them. Both parents never spoke again.

However, a neighbour showed Trena a clip on the video-sharing app TikTok, which she mistakenly believed was her. The woman in the video had a striking resemblance to Trena, who was baffled by how much they looked alike. When Trena showed the person to her father, he explained that Trena had a twin sister Treni, 24, who was given up for adoption shortly after their birth.

Following several messages between the two, they confirmed the relationship. Footage shows the heartwarming reunion between the two girls and their father in West Java, Indonesia on October 22. Trena said: ''I spent my whole life without knowing I was a twin with a sister. It felt normal, then my whole world changed when I discovered I had a sister. Now we are together again, I will always feel incomplete without her.''

Enceng Dedi, 59, said that the twins were sick when they were born so he could not take care of them at the same time.  His wife was also at the hospital at that time struggling with post-natal health issues, which added to the family's burdens. Enceng entrusted the other twin, Treni, to a neighbour, however, several months later they moved away. "Now we are together again, I will always feel incomplete without her.''

Enceng said: "When my twin daughters were babies, they were sickly. Then I was given the advice to separate the two, and I did that." Treni's foster family left town and moved to another place with her when the twins turned one and that's the last time his father saw her. They then lost contact. Enceng had a third daughter, Tania, who is younger than both the twins and the missing girl, Treni, was never spoken about.

Her surname was changed and they lived in East Java province, which made it hard for her biological father to locate her after several years until they saw her on TikTok. Trena messaged Treni on the app and they had their first-ever conversation through a video call, in which they planned to meet. Their father apologised to the twins for keeping the separation a secret, but Trena said she was not angry at his decision.

She said:  "I have TikTok but the video wasn't from me. My neighbour also didn't know that the woman wasn't me, she just wanted to praise me for the great dance. 'I explained to her that it wasn't me, but we looked so alike, I can understand how my neighbour thought it was me. I am not mad at my father at all because I know he had his reasons for doing that. I am just happy to know that I have a sister.''
