Embakasi
East Member of Parliament has responded to whether he regrets the shooting
incident at B-club Nairobi involving Felix Orinda alias DJ Evolve.
Speaking
during an interview with Capital FM, the legislator said that he has chosen to
forgive himself, adding that it is a matter between him and God.
The legislator
added that in as much as he would like to talk about the incident, he cannot
discuss it as the matter is still in court.
“That matter as you
all know and as Kenyans know is a matter that is sub judice. It is a matter
that is before a court of law and a matter before a court of law should not be
discussed, as much as I would love to discuss and talk about it.”
“Secondly, it is a
matter that is between me and God and I chose to forgive myself and I want to
tell you, we cannot change the past but we can change the future. Let us focus
on what is coming in the foreseeable future, let us not dwell so much in our
past because we can’t change it no matter how much we wish to change it,”
state Babu owino.

When asked about his involvement in paying DJ Evolve’s
hospital bill, the Embakasi East MP assured that he will pay the bills but
stated that he would not comment on the issue any further.
“Again I would not
wish to dwell in that, matters bills, I will pay the bill and I’ll leave it at
that… I would not talk about it because it is a matter before a court of law,”
he added.
Last week, Kenyans on social media and friends to DJ Evolve demanded to know if the legislator is helping in paying the medical bills after reports that the bill rose to almost Sh7million.
Through his
lawyer Duncan Okatch, Babu Owino, who is accused of shooting DJ Evolve on the
neck at B Club in Nairobi, stated that the legislator has so far paid Sh5m for
the hospital bills.
“Our client
has up to date paid a total of Sh5 million which principally is channeled
towards the treatment of the victim,” read part of the letter by Okatch and
Partners Advocates, the firm representing Babu Owino
In addition, the letter read that Mr Owino had no control
over the money he was asked to pay by the court since the cash was directly
paid to the Honourable Courts.
However, on Tuesday March 3, Justice Luka Kimaru said there
were no compelling reasons to deny Babu Owino bail adding that he is not
obliged to continue paying the DJ’s medical bill.
"The accused person should continue paying the hospital bill as a moral duty to him, not as a court order...if he fails to pay it is up to him,” said Justice Kimaru.
